Options

 

Every Trip Site includes a core component set of pages

There is a common set of pages for all core components

And international trips include some additional pages in their core

There are several optional components available for each Trip Site

For both core and optional components, you can choose to omit some of the pages in the set

 

Pages in the common core component for all trips:

• Home page for the trip, contains overview and a list of recent changes so users can keep current easily
• How to use this site - instructions about how to find information on the site, how to contact the trip leader(s), etc.
• Style of the trip - whether trip is escorted or guided, etc.
• Our travelers - a list of everyone in the group on this trip, with a link to the person's personal web page on this site
• Personal web pages - one for each traveler
• Itinerary - current schedule of the trip; also includes an option for a printable version
• Prices - the trip price, what that includes, any additional charge-for options, payment schedules and deadlines, and cancellation policy
• Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) - links to provide information about trip insurance, and about weather at the destination
• Destinations - one page for each city the trip will be exploring (general info) and one page about the specific hotel and plans for that city
• Resources - information about the people supporting the trip

 

Additional pages in the common core component for international trips:

• Country related links links to online resources related to the country / countries being visited
• Additional FAQ links these pages, as appropriate:
  • Time zone mappings
  • Fahrenheit / Centigrade (Celsius) mappings
  • How to call between countries
  • Currency conversions (includes a printable version option)
  • Alternatives for exchanging money
• Modifications to other pages adjust "How to use this site" and "FAQ" pages to incorporate the above additions

 

The Check List Component consists of two pages:

• The Check List a table of all people in the group and the list of tasks they must complete; updated as members accomplish these tasks
• Suggestions for preparing for the trip things to do in advance to make the trip enjoyable

 

The Events Component consists of one page:

• The Events List a listing of local events (concerts, lectures, meetings, etc.) of potential interest for people on the trip; updated as the trip leader informs us of these events

 

The Trip Memories Component pictures and videos of the trip

• The thumbnails page a page showing thumbnail size pictures from the trip; clicking on a thumbnail provides a larger picture in a new window; it is possible to set up videos for viewing
• Additional pages - there may be separate pages of related pictures, in order to provide quicker access to the pictures / videos from each day
• Alternatively: we can work with some of the web sites that specialize in online and hardcopy albums on your behalf

 

The Culture and Customs Component international trips only

• Country related resources a page of links to country-specific non-online content (books, CDs, DVDs, etc.)
• Cusine survey of foods travelers are likely to encounter on this trip
• Customs do's and don'ts when meeting with (even homestaying with) the locals; may require more than one page

 

The Language Component international trips only

• Introduction to language a collection of pages providing some fundamental information about the language spoken in the destination country
